The Sinhala word for Negombo is Mee Gomuwa ,literally Bee Hoards, based on quaint folklore about a Queen who wanted to eat honey-her king found a huge Bees Nest in a canoe, in that area. You can idle in a hammock under a coconut tree, sipping delicious coconut water, and watch the fishermen in their quaint outrigger canoes, while you look forward to succulent grilled lobster for supper.
