BLUEWHALE TRAVELS
Situated about 37 km away from Colombo, and about 7 km from Colombo’s International Airport, Negombo is a major beach resort town ideal for the first or last days of your Sri Lanka visit. You will find beautiful beach, serene palm trees and comfortable hotels along the coast. The seafood selection prepared by Sri Lankan chefs is out of this world, along with the delectable fruits that are a  local trademark.
Negombo city has Portuguese, Dutch and Moorish influence and its also called Little Rome due to its genteel Roman Catholic population. The Sinhala word for Negombo is Mee Gomuwa ,literally Bee Hoards, based on quaint folklore about a Queen who wanted to eat honey-her king found a huge Bees Nest in a canoe, in that area. You can idle in a hammock under a coconut tree, sipping delicious coconut water, and watch the fishermen in their quaint outrigger canoes, while you look forward to succulent grilled lobster for supper.
